Fall marks a simultaneous celebration of the outdoors — walking through crinkly leaves, planting spring bulbs, enjoying the very best of produce of the year — and the beginning of a retreat back into our homes. Here are my favorite choices for the season.

I’m a firm believer in the transformative power of a good candle. Carrière Frères make some
of the most deliciously scented candles I’ve found, and the botanical illustrations on their
glass holders have me wanting to collect them all.

I don’t have much garden space to speak of, but this year I plan to drop a few bulbs into
