101 Cookbooks creator Heidi Swanson shares a few of her favorite things for the kitchen and home.
Frazer Parfum Solide
I love solid perfumes. This one in particular is made by Tammy Frazer in South
Africa using an
18th-century traditional method of perfumery where hand-gathered organic beeswax
is infused with
natural perfume and all natural ingredients. It's decadent and feminine, and the
perfect size to
keep in your purse.
Longreads
I enjoy long-format magazine stories and journalism. Longreads posts links to
great stories best
read away from your desk.
Alma Cowl Neck Baby Alpaca Poncho
Soft, cozy and easy-to-wear as the weather cools. I wear this backward and
forward and can’t wait to
get my hands on the dark grey version as well.
White Olivetti Valentine
I looked for one for years at flea markets, yard sales and online. It was like
trying to spot a unicorn. This one ended up coming from Italy.
Polaroid Land Camera
I shoot quite a bit with a pair of old Land Cameras I own. You can still buy
Fuji pack film, and the
color and softness of the prints is magic.
White Marble Mortar and Pestle
I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and it took me awhile to find a mortar and
pestle I really
loved — one I would give to friends as a gift. This one is large, weighty and
substantial. The
mortar holds more than two cups. You can make pestos, curry pastes, nut butters,
guacamole. It’s
great.
Quarry Bancroft Ring
Bronze and handmade in the U.S., I wear this ring nearly every day.
